The Tower is a card of shock and chaos, a symbol of man’s pride, arrogance, and ostentation. It cracks and collapses under the assault of lightning or fire from above and waves of water below. Sometimes, people are seen falling or leaping from the tower. The lightning represents divine punishment for greed, and the waves blast and level, symbolically cleansing the scene of corruption.

The structures and systems you’ve built in your life are being shaken up. Assumptions you’ve taken for granted are going to be thrown into question. You are going to be forced to think in brand-new ways.

The Tower could indicate a surprising event, such as being laid off, discovering a betrayal, an unexpected pregnancy, winning the lottery, or unexpected expenses like home or car repairs. Someone could have an emotional outburst.

This card may be a reminder to set aside a little money each month, just in case. Have your emergency supplies ready. Have a plan in case of a fire or vehicle breakdown. Think through what would happen in the worst-case situation and prepare as much as you can.
