Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice

It's finally beginning to feel like Fall out there!

This morning we have all the windows and doors open so that a wonderful, cool breeze is blowing through, freshening everything up. We’ve still had temperatures in the mid-90s here in NE Texas, so it hasn’t really felt like Fall yet.

But last night we had thundershowers and lightning (I LOVE that!) so it cooled things off. And we are thoroughly enjoying the brisk start to our day!

Autumn is My Favorite Season of the Year

Pumpkin Spice has been calling my name. It’s everywhere, especially now that it’s October. I made a healthier treat - a Greek Yogurt concoction - featuring that tasty flavor combination (recipe and photo to come!), but as I’m sipping my hot coffee this morning, I’m craving these yummy-looking Pumpkin Spice Walnut Biscotti from The Biscotti Company.

As a child, I spent many hours at my mother’s side baking goodies. She was an insanely talented baker. Mom was the first generation, on her mother’s side, born in the United States. Her mother immigrated from Stockholm, Sweden, with her family when she was just six years old. So, my mother tried to keep that Swedish heritage alive in her baking…mostly at holiday time. Every single year, without fail, mom baked my Grandma Iris’s traditional Almond Rusks: the Swedish version of an Italian biscotti cookie.

And I carry on that tradition -

While I love the subtly sweet almond flavor of my grandma’s rusks, I’ve come to enjoy a variety of flavors of biscotti over the years.

I have a long history with biscotti, having offered a selection through Brown Paper Coffee Company (BPCC), the gourmet coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and biscotti business I launched and ran for 4+ years back in the late 90s. (Below are photos I did the food design for when creating a product brochure and website for BPCC.)

Then, later, I was a sales rep covering a 10-state-region for another biscotti bakery out of Central Oregon.

Now I’ve partnered with owner, Bruno LoGreco, and his team of bakers in Long Island, NY to offer these premium gourmet biscotti that are baked fresh in small batches with only the finest ingredients. (He even has a line of gluten-free products made with almond flour that are very popular!) Biscotti have a great shelf-life, and are an awesome treat, as well as holiday gift! Trust me…they are addictive! You literally can’t eat just one!
