The Making of Sadie
For six years, she has been a whisper.
If you’ve been with me since the beginning of the Jack Mac Paidin series, you know her name. You know the weight of her absence. Sadie.
She first appeared in the Prologue of Book One—a fleeting glimpse, a foundational mystery. Then, that single, heart-stopping chapter at the end of Book Two. Since then? Silence. Aside from a casual mention by Jack or a heavy-hearted thought from Ethan, Sadie has remained in the shadows, quietly waiting for her moment.
That moment is finally here.
Beyond the Written Page
As I’ve been deep in the "final polish" phase of Book Five, I realized that a character who has waited six years for her story deserves more than just digital ink. She deserved to be brought into the physical world.
While writing here in Northeast Texas, I've toyed with the idea of taking Sadie to my workbench. I've wanted to see if I could capture that mix of power and innocence she carries—not just through words, but through fire and wood.
A New Frontier: The "Sadie" Kickstarter?
I’ve never been one for "fanfare." Usually, I just hit publish and move on to the next story. But The Missing Sister feels different. It feels like a milestone.
I’m considering doing something I’ve never done before: launching a Kickstarter campaign to bring this book to life.

If we go this route, it would allow me to offer things I simply can't do on Amazon:
- The "Sadie's Reckoning" Hardcover: A premium, autographed edition only available through the campaign.
- The Wood-Burnt Artifacts: Hand-signed Master Prints of my original pyrography portrait of Sadie (similar to the one you see in the mockup - that is definitely NOT the actual hand-burned piece).
- Exclusive Tiered Rewards: From digital "behind-the-scenes" research journals to physical "Heritage" certificates.
I Need Your Guidance
Since I’ve never conducted a Kickstarter before, I want to take the pulse of the people who have been waiting with me.
Is this something you would participate in? Do you like the idea of "backing" the project to get these limited-edition physical relics, or do you prefer the traditional "just-the-book" approach?
This is a big leap for me, and I’d love to know if you're ready to jump with me. Drop a comment below or hit reply to my latest email (tracy.p.johnson@live.com). Let’s decide together how Sadie finally makes her grand entrance.
I really, REALLY value your feedback! Please let me know your thoughts!
Lots of Love,
~Tracy
