Why I Released Expansion Bundle #1 Before Book Five

Many readers have asked when Book Five, The Missing Sister, will be arriving.

The short answer is: this year.

The longer answer is that writing and publishing the next major installment in a series takes time, especially when you care about getting the story right. I’ve never wanted to rush a book simply to meet an arbitrary deadline. The right story deserves the right pace.

At the same time, I also didn’t want the world of Jack Mac Paidin to go quiet while readers waited.

That is one of the reasons I created Expansion Bundle #1.

There was another motivation as well. My Box Set #1 (Books 1-3) has been seeing strong recent activity in Kindle Unlimited KENP page reads, which told me readers were still discovering the series and spending time in that world. That momentum caught my attention.

So I began asking a practical question: if readers were responding so well to one bundled edition, would they welcome another?

Expansion Bundle #1 grew naturally from that idea.

Rather than leave a long gap between releases, I wanted to give readers something new to explore now, while also continuing the momentum of the series. For longtime followers of Jack Mac Paidin, it opens the next stage of the adventure. For newer readers, it shows that this world continues to grow beyond the original Box Set.

Expansion Bundle #1 includes two full-length stories:

Book 4: Jack Mac Paidin and The Risky Reunion

Jack enters the demon realm of Blarjord to save his brother Ethan before dark rituals transform him forever. Inside Queen Valdis’s fortress, he faces dragons, vampires, and ancient evil in a desperate attempt to bring Ethan home.

Book 4.5: Angel Touched

Nathaniel Gray was dying when a mysterious girl touched his arm and healed him instantly. But miracles always come with consequences. As strange powers awaken inside him, he is drawn into visions, spiritual warfare, and a battle between light and darkness.

Together, these stories expand the universe, deepen the stakes, and prepare the ground for what comes next.

Many authors assume the only meaningful move is to push nonstop toward the next “big” book. Sometimes that is true. But sometimes the smarter move is to pay attention to reader behavior and keep readers engaged with strong material that bridges the gap between larger installments.

That might mean a companion novella, a side story, a collected edition, a bundle, or a book that expands the world in a meaningful way.

Readers appreciate momentum. They appreciate knowing the series is alive, growing, and moving forward.

Creators benefit too, because it allows room to build the next flagship release without forcing unfinished work into the marketplace.

That is exactly how I see Expansion Bundle #1.

It is not filler. It is not a placeholder. It is part of the larger journey.

And while readers enjoy these new adventures, I continue writing Book Five: The Missing Sister, which I’m excited to share later this year.
